Meet the crew.

Wild Frontier Foods has grown out of Jan and Mike Jackson’s ingenuity and sense of adventure.

Mike moved to Barrow, Alaska in 1989 as a bush pilot. After many successful years of flying on the North Slope he settled down in Southeast Alaska where he operated his aviation business. An invitation to his mother to come for a visit would change his life and hers. Jan never left. 

Jan is a cookbook author and outdoor enthusiast who saw life in the wilderness as just another challenge.  In fact they agreed JAC, their partnership, stood for just that.

Jan and Mike soon moved to Hoonah, Alaska to set up shop. They operated a small bed and breakfast and aviation service until opening the doors to The Galley Restaurant. Jan’s imagination soon landed on the Wild Frontier Halibut Melt Pizza. Locals and visitors alike clamor to The Galley for its creamy, cheesy halibut goodness year round.  She has even more combinations and menu choices.

Twelve years have passed since Jan and Mike moved to the bush of Chichagof Island and they have never looked back.
